Total Impact Summit ’27 · May 18–19, 2027 · The Barnes Foundation

Welcome to Total Impact Summit

In today’s world, capital flows to the places we call home according to how systems are designed. Yet, our current dominant system design often reflects philosophies written generations ago, with little proximity to today’s local realities and the people who live there, or to the pace at which places are now changing in response to everything from climate crises to cultural shifts.

Total Impact Summit ’27 explores new possibilities at every scale — from systems-level design down to how capital actually reaches a regional resilience strategy, a neighborhood cooperative development, or a rural farmer.

We ask: What would it look like if the places we call home held real power over the capital that shapes them? No single investor, instrument, capital type, or intermediary holds the full answer alone, but everyone has a role to play in bringing their piece to the table.

“There’s a different kind of imagination of what’s possible when everyone comes together. We’re not having to dance in front of the usual finance architecture.”

— Jen van der Meer, Professor, Parsons School of Design, The New School

Across two days, more than 550 leaders and practitioners — spanning philanthropy, private credit, family offices, public dollars, equity, policy and legal expertise, impact providers, community leaders, and field builders — come together to share, learn, and move toward a new design centered on reimagining local possibility and moving capital into action.

Through mainstage panels, mini keynotes, armchair conversations, and labs built for connection, design, practice, and action, attendees leave with invaluable relationships, systems-level design knowledge, practical frameworks for moving capital, and new investment opportunities and capital partners.

“The convening of funders together with the actual practitioners and people on the ground doing the work has been valuable in a way I haven’t seen at other conferences.”

— Chloe Lilliston, Illinois State Treasurer’s Office
