The Independence Public Media Foundation (IPMF) is a six-year-old private foundation with an unorthodox origin story. IPMF emerged from WYBE, a small public television station in Philadelphia that relinquished its broadcast license. IPMF went on to manage $131 million, with a liberatory perspective, shifting away from the traditional philanthropy model.
